Online Teletherapy
I offer in person therapy for the Denver metro area. As well as online teletherapy, through either Skype or Zoom. I ship therapy pouches in the mail to compliment the therapy we do together. After committing to a therapy program, we will do 40 minute video calls where I will teach you exercises, practice exercises from previous sessions, show lip seal and tongue posture tongue posture and lip seal, then I give the next assignments to work on.
Typically I will assign 3-4 exercises per session, and habit and posture goals. We can work around the time zone differences, just contact me and we can talk and find a way! All you need is high speed internet, computer, laptop, phone with a stand, and good lighting.
Also, I can work a deal if there are 2 people in the same family who can do therapy at the same time. Tongue ties are genetic, so unfortunately if 1 kid has it, the siblings and a parent have them too.
Mini Myo
Toddlers can be a challenge to give therapy exercise programs to so I teach parents what to do and what can be done at home during play. I teach parents some play based exercises for tongue and lip strength, and a habit correcting appliance to strengthen the muscles of chewing, lips together, and nose breathing. I also identify tethered oral tissues like tongue tie and lip tie and work with a network of healthcare professionals giving referrals to a provider for a frenectomy.
Symptoms to look out for:
- Pain when nursing
- clicking, noisy eating
- will only take a bottle
- gassy, constipated, colicky
- Body Tension
- Poor sleeping pattern
- tongue is low in the mouth and is open frequently or always.
Therapy for Kids and Teens
Children are great candidates for Myofunctional Therapy and to catch the dysfunctional patterns before the domino effects begin, can lead to a healthier life.
Some of what we will be preventing in therapy will be improper forward growth of the mouth, palate getting too high and narrow, complete jaw maturity, preventing airway restrictions, and fully formed facial structure.
Common issues with young people are:
- Mouth breathing
- Tongue tie
- Parted lips
- Bad chewing/sucking habits
- Tongue thrust swallow
- And many more…
Therapy for adults
Myofunctional Therapy in adults is useful for tongue tie release before and after frenectomy, sleep disordered breathing, TMJ disorders (tension, clenching, and grinding), tension headaches, mouth breathing, swallow correction for facial compensation and tongue thrust, sleep wellness, coaching on exclusive nose breathing, screening for airway issues and referral to airway specialists. Or when you know you need orthodontics again and know you need to address the tongue thrust but aren’t ready financially to pay for orthodontics. Myofunctional Therapy can be an easier and less invasive starting option for airway options like:
- Mandibular advancement sleep appliance.
- Palatal expansion for adults such as a DNA or ALF appliance.
- Orthognathic jaw repositioning surgery.
- CPAP.
Therapy for sexual wellness:
Most issues people struggle with in romantic relationships are due to myofunctional disorders! This manifests in: difficulty French kissing, difficulty performing fellatio and cunnilingus, and some types of erectile dysfunction (E.D.).
- Tongue tie (limited tongue mobility and strength)
- Small mouth and anatomy
- Sensitive tongue and palate tissue
- TMJ muscle imbalances or limited opening due to small anatomy of the upper jaw bone and joint
- Mouth breathing causing poor oxygen levels in the blood and poor circulation to the groin.
I can help with tongue strength and agility, lip strength, TMJ relief, sleep and breathing help which have been shown to significantly reduce the effects of certain types of E.D.
